The Winter Struggle is Real

Some years it seems like the winter in New England can drag on forever.  We’ve all experienced those winters where we become so tired of clearing the snow or ice and salting the walkway – just to go out and do it again a few days later.  Along with the weather comes shorter, darker days and increased risk of isolation. The holiday season ends and loved ones get back into the swing of daily life.  All these factors can work together contributing to the seasonal doldrums.  For some people, the winter struggle is real.

At Birch Hill, we understand that this season can be challenging for all these reasons. Our maintenance team promptly removes snow and ice. How nice would it be to come outside following a storm and find your car cleaned off and the snow around it plowed? If it is a little messy, take advantage of courtesy transportation by the friendly and caring staff. Stay connected by dining with friends or neighbors. Find purpose and fun by starting a new club based on your passions, or simply participate in a packed calendar of fitness, life-enriching activities, and trips.

Reconnect with nature, serve drinks in the resident-run tavern, lead a lecture on a topic you love, practice ballet in the fitness center, or craft something new in the fully appointed woodworking shop. There are so many ways to meet new friends and do more of the things you love. Perhaps the best part is, that if you need it, Assisted Living, Nursing Care and Memory Care are available to you below market rate, all under the same roof.

Relax knowing you’ve got a plan for your future. Find joy in the winter once again, at Birch Hill.
